There is a perception that the cybersecurity field is “techie” and therefore more suitable for men. No doubt, the field is male dominated at the moment but that shouldn’t discourage more women into the field. There is a low work force of women in cybersecurity.

According to the new research from cybersecurity ventures it predicts that women represent 20 percent of the global cybersecurity workforce in 2018 as at the 11 percent in 2013. Great improvement I’ll say but we need to do better. Simbiat Sadiq – Cyber Security Analyst

A lot of efforts have been made by local and global bodies towards encouraging women in cybersecurity. Cyber literacy in Africa is a priority to us, and in our concerted efforts towards cybersecurity inclusion across Africa, we are empowering young women in cybersecurity, providing and linking them to scholarship opportunities for women interested in cybersecurity.

We need more women involved as mentors and volunteers to guide and help young women in choosing and building a successful career in cybersecurity and increasing the percentage of women representation in the global cybersecurity workforce.

We are open to collaborate with volunteers towards organizing mentoring classes for young women, organized by women to increase the percentage of women in cybersecurity representation in Africa.
