WHO WE ARE:

CYSEC NG Student Groups (CyStuG) is an initiative of Cyber Security Challenge Nigeria which encourages practical education beyond the classroom by allowing students to network and learn from each other, and connect with a supportive group of professionals. Students gain knowledge and experience that moves them ahead of the competition when they graduate in the cyber world.

Our purpose is to promote cyber and information security across the Nigerian universities and Africa at large.

CyStuG is a place where individuals of all backgrounds can learn about cybersecurity and gain the knowledge necessary to arm themselves against modern day computer exploits.

OUR GOALS:

  • Get mentoring on career paths from experienced practitioners to members of the club
  • Expanding the study of cyber security.
  • Develop a Long-running CTF challenge for members of the club
  • CyStuG will teach offensive and defensive security to members at all levels.
  • Current Cyber-Trends Talks and practical demonstrations.

STRATEGIES

While the club’s main purpose is to provide students who are interested in cybersecurity with the technical resources needed to advance their computer security careers. The club achieves this mission by organizing weekly meetings to discuss and practice hands-on cybersecurity. concepts including, but not limited to, network security, digital forensics, penetration testing, secure coding, cryptography, and reverse engineering. On top of this, we invite talented professionals/Companies to speak at our meetings and promote their work in computer security.

  • Every Members will belong to a team in the club which is headed by a team leader.
  • CTF competition will be held monthly to test the knowledge of the group members where teams will compete against each other.

REGISTRATION

Interested members will register on the club’s website, thereby each member have his/her unique club ID.

REQUIREMENT

  • Potential members must have a running PC
  • Potential Members must have a willingness to learn new skills

MEETING SCHEDULE

The club will meet every week (Saturday) at one of the ICT/CyberSecurity Lab of the university (at least 5 hours)

LEADERSHIP STRUCTURE

The following leadership position should be assigned at any set-up club to ensure the planning of activities and proper functioning of the club
