Official Rules for the CYSEC NG Conference

BY PARTICIPATING, YOU AGREE TO THESE OFFICIAL RULES

Overview

Upgraded Era Solutions is the organizer of Cyber Security Challenge Nigeria 2018 (CYSEC NG 18).

  • The Event is designed to identify the best and brightest in the Cyber Security industry.
  • The Event will take place October 30 – 21, 2018 in Abuja – Nigeria
  • CTF Hackathon Challenge will take place during the event.
  • In these Official Rules, the terms “we,” “us,” or “our” refer to the Organizer, and the term “you” refers to you, the entrant, both as an individual and as part of your team.

CTF Hackathon Challenge Eligibility

The eligibility rules below must be accepted in order for you to register for, and participate in any of the CTF Hackathon Challenge competitions

Age and Eligibility

  • The CTF Hackathon competition is played by teams of between two to four people. Each team must delegate a team leader as the liaison between the organisers and the participants, and every team participant must be 26 years old or under when the game is played. The competition is open to anyone resident in Africa that meets the age requirements.
  • Competitions is open to all ages at Virtual level through the challenges are most likely to be suited to those aged 12 and above. You must be 16 or above to participate in the contest. Contestants under 18 will need to be accompanied by an Adult. You must be a university student in  Nigeria or other African countries, a serving  NYSC Corps member or a young aspiring  professional with less than two years of working experience.
  • Each team must compete a series of online qualifying challenge rounds, which will challenge them to learn about networking, coding, penetration testing, and cyber security. Winning teams from our virtual competitions with higher points will be invited to compete in the National Final, a face-to-face competition which finds the ultimate champion for the year.
  • If you are unsure as to whether your employment counts as working in the cyber Profession please get in touch. If you participate and gain a place at a Face to Face event and then are found to be already employed in Cyber Security you will be disqualified immediately from the challenge.
  • If you are currently working in the field of Cyber Security, you can participate in  our Virtual challenge Competitions. However, you will not be eligible to participate in any Face to Face National Competitions leading to overall Championship. Examples of Cyber Security Jobs include Penetration Tester, Threat Consultant, Cyber Security Software Engineer, Security Operations Analyst etc.
  • If you are an employee of a company, government agency, or an academic institution, you are responsible for ensuring that your participation in the Hackathon complies with any policies your company, agency, or institution may have regarding participation in contests of this type. We are not responsible for any disputes arising between you and your employer.
  • You must also check‐in onsite and in person at the Hackathon venue between 8:00 to 12:00 on the event dates. If you do not check‐in onsite and in person during these times you will not be allowed to participate in the CTF Hackathon Challenge.
  • The CTF Challenge Hackathon is open to registered participants who are at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in the jurisdiction where they reside, whichever is older and not more that 2 years working experience.
  • Teams will form with a minimum of two persons and a maximum of 4 people around each advancing idea. You may not be part of more than one team. Pick your team members carefully because after this point, you will not be allowed to switch teams, or add or remove team members. We are not responsible for, and will not assist in resolving, any disputes between team members.
  • We reserve the right to disqualify any Participant that in our judgment is inappropriate or offensive, as determined by our judges, in our sole discretion.
  • By completing the registration process, you represent and warrant that you have fully complied with these Official Rules.

  

Nationality

  • You must be an African and resident in Africa to participate. You must be able to provide proof of any African country Citizenship i.e. Passport or a Birth certificate as and when required.
  • Working Experience in Cyber Security Field

Compliance with Official Rules

  • We reserve the right to assess your eligibility and compliance with these Official Rules at any point during the CTF Hackathon Challenge. If we require any assistance in order to assess your compliance, you must promptly provide that assistance. If you do not provide the requested assistance in a timely manner, or if we have reason to believe that you are not complying with the Official Rules, you may be disqualified, in our sole discretion.
  • Each member of the winning teams may be required to sign any documents and provide for any information required for tax purposes in order to receive a prize. If you do not sign the required forms or provide the required information, if applicable, within thirty days following our request we may disqualify you from receiving a prize.
  • We are not responsible for any illegal activity that will put Upgraded Era, CYSEC NG, and its Partners in any state of jeopardy.
